BRIEF
HISTORY

Alamo is the second oldest township in an
area that until the mid 21st century was exclusively a fertile rural area
producing mainly a variety of fruits, nuts, grains, hay and cattle. As
the pressures of urban development affected Contra Costa County, Alamo
developed into a community characterized by an upscale style of life. The
County is one of the fastest growing environments in the Bay area, and has
developed in response to its metropolitan neighbor. Alamo embodies
the best of this rapidly changing trend, as it boasts a large number of
educated and skilled people who enjoy a healthy income and favorable lifestyle.
Alamo features ranch homes and estates, custom-built homes, beautifully
landscaped properties, and equestrian properties, as well as some townhouses
and condominiums. Of note is the Roundhill Country Club, a private club
which offers a leisurely, but active environment including swimming, tennis,
golf, and regular social events.
